Practical interventions to cope with floods

Flooding in Mauritania

maurentanië

Published: 01-03-2015

Flooding is a major problem in Nouakchott, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania (arid climate).  A combination of factors has been indicted as leading to the flooding problem. There is a lack of a properly functioning sewerage and drainage systems, the city is located below sea level and strong erosion threatens the city’s coastal safety barriers.

Acacia Water participated in a Dutch mission in which water experts came up with practical interventions to cope with the flooding problem.
