The effects of climate change are becoming clear to all of us. To sustain a liveable environment it is quintessential to set-up adequate coping strategies in time; amongst others, to safeguard access to sufficient freshwater, now and in the future.

To support the set-up of coping strategies in developing countries Acacia Water, in collaboration with The Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) and Both Ends, carried out the ADAPTS-project.

Through adaptations to water management, planning and decision making processes resilience at the project sites can be increased. Within the framework of ADAPTS Acacia Water developed a river basin management plan for the Dayi River in Ghana and installed five pilot micro-irrigation schemes on the river banks.
